For the convenience of our clients, we operate on an appointment basis - except in cases of emergency.
If your pet needs to be seen, please book an appointment at the surgery most convenient for you. Since we are fully computerised, your pet’s records will be available at any of the surgeries at all times.
It is very helpful if you can give the receptionist as much information about the reason for your appointment as possible so that we can allocate an appropriate amount of time for your appointment.
Whilst we always try to keep as close to booked appointment times as possible, the nature of veterinary medicine means that unexpected things crop up and emergencies happen. We do ask clients to be understanding if some appointments take longer than we anticipate - the next time it could be you or your pet that needs that extra time to help them.
If you do have a genuine emergency, it is always wise to phone ahead and let us know you are on your way so that we can be prepared to treat your pet as soon as you arrive.
For emergencies outside of normal surgery hours, please just call your normal surgery number (or 01243 842832 - the main West Meads surgery) and you will be directed to call the AlphaPet Duty Vet on a mobile number. You will be able to speak directly to that AlphaPet vet. We do not use call centres.
Please note that all animals seen outside of normal hours are seen at our main West Meads surgery where we have the most complete 24-hour emergency, medical, surgical and hospitalisation facilities to help your pet.
In order to improve our appointment system, a surcharge will be applied to all clients who attend without first making an appointment.
This has become necessary due to an increase in clients arriving without an appointment, expecting to be seen, many of which are not especially urgent. This has a knock-on effect on those clients who have already made appointments which we feel is unfair.
We trust clients will understand this decision.
